All specimens shipped to us should be properly cared for 

• Ears, lips, and eyes turned and fleshed
• Properly flesh all meat and heavy fat from skins
• Salt well. Leave for 24 hours, and salt again
• Shake off excess salt and hang skins to DRY!
• After drying has occurred place skins in cardboard box and ship.

When sending hides that need to be prepped by Keystone Fur Dressing we ask that you follow these guidelines.

• If you’re sending hide prep via; USPS, UPS, Fed-Ex etc. make sure you PUT RED X’s on EACH BOX so that we know there is a frozen hide in the box and will be opened immediately upon arrival.
• All hides should be in a heavy bag and clearly marked with the type of hide and your COMPANY NAME. This is imperative so that we know whom the hide belongs to.
• Fill out a Keystone Fur Dressing packing slip explaining what you would like Keystone to do with your hide i.e split, turn, flesh, salt etc. Be sure to add any special instructions and include your contact information. 
• You must customer code your hide so that you know which customer it belongs to. We will punch your hide on the bottom right-hand side of the hide so please locate your customer punch elsewhere. Please remember to use a small punch to punch small, thin-skinned, or wooly animals. A large punch may cause the hide to tear easily and the hair will matt and knot up on both sides of the hide. If you ask Keystone Fur Dressing to do this for you there will be an additional $10/hide fee.

Please be aware that Keystone Fur dressing does not cut any hides for any reason. If your hide is a cape and is too long, you will be charged an additional fee.

We have always prided our company on being small enough to know our customers but large enough to give employment opportunities to our local neighbors.

Upon completion of hide prep, you will receive an invoice for hide prep and an acknowledgement for tanning. 

Tanning charges will be invoiced upon completion of tanning. Terms and conditions are the same as stated in the invoice.

Terms of hide prep invoice will be Net 30 days if invoice is unpaid at the end of 30 days, finance charges will be assessed at the following rates

18% APR
1.5& monthly
.05% daily

Shipments left over thirty (30) days will be assessed a 2% storage fee for dry tans, 10% for wet tans, and an 18% financing charge

All specimens not retrieved within six (6) months of notification that work on the same is completed, will be sold at terms determined by Keystone Fur Dressing.

• Dorsal or case cut life-size big game skins have a 15% extra charge.
• Except for Whitetail Deer, short incision on North American game is 15% extra.
• All foreign and exotic capes with short incision will be charged 40% extra.
• Skins with head will be charged life-size price minus cost of hoof tanning.
• We no longer accept wooly hides.
• The venue and jurisdiction for any collection matters or other disputes will be Adams County, Pennsylvania. 
• If a customer is in default and a dispute arises regarding services provided by Keystone Fur Dressing Inc. the customer agrees to pay all legal costs associated with said dispute.
• Rush service: 40 working day service will be charged 100% extra.
• Prices subject to change without notice.
• There will be a transaction fee charged on all credit card payments.
• Return Check Fee is $40.00

Hide Condition

• An Additional fee will apply for capes cut excessively long.
• If metal or wire tags are attached to hides and blades are damaged a $52.00 fee will apply
• All unsalted hides that enter the tannery will be charged an additional cost for salting.
• We reserve the right to refuse to process and handle skins that are unfit to be tanned.
• Hide prep is offered for all hides at an additional price depending on the hide. This includes fleshing, salting, turning, removing bones, etc. If a hide is received and has poor prep work, it is under Keystone’s discretion to complete the prep work and charge the customer an additional charge.

Shipping / Receiving

• When we receive your shipment, you will receive a confirmation of items we have received. If there are any discrepancies please notify us immediately.
• When your skins have completed the tanning process, you will be invoiced for the complete tanning charges.If you are a new customer or not an established account, we will hold your shipment for ten (10) working days for personal checks to clear. Upon receipt of a cashiers check, money order, or Visa/MasterCard/Discover/American Express, your order will be delivered promptly.
• Shipments left over thirty (30) days will be assessed a 2% storage fee for dry tans, 10% for frozen tans, and an 18% financing charge
• All specimens not retrieved within six (6) months of notification that work on the same is completed, will be sold at terms determined by Keystone Fur Dressing.
• Any return shipment fee will be the customers responsibility.

Due to many factors that have an effect on the final results of fur dressing all tanning is accepted at the owner’s risk

Salted and dried hides often have a tendency to crack and break during the shipping and handling process. Infrequently tanneries may cut holes and machines may cause tears in the hides. Rarely is a hide damaged to the extent that it cannot be mounted. We ask that you please do not phone our office over small, minor damages. Keystone Fur Dressing is a wholesale tannery that tans hides for taxidermists. Minor damages should be an easy task for any taxidermist to repair and mount.

If items such as tails, hooves, and scrotums are lost, they will not hold up an order nor will Keystone Fur Dressing replace them.
